The AFP Foundation for Philanthropy – Canada in collaboration with Ipsos Reid recently conducted research on what Canadian donors want out of their giving experience. The research focused on:
- Importance of and attitudes towards charities and non-profit organizations
- Views towards charitable organization management and investment areas
- Leadership and board engagement of charities and not-for-profit organizations
- Level of knowledge of supported charities and impact of knowledge on decision to donate
- Charitable donation experience, motivations, and contact preferences
- Donor relationship management

Heather Alinsangan, Associate Vice President Ipsos Reid Public Affairs
Heather has over twelve years of experience designing, executing, and reporting on quantitative and qualitative research for government, non-profit, and private sector organizations. Throughout this time she has built up a solid portfolio of experience including research and evaluations in support of social marketing campaigns, program development, performance measurement, and public health. She has managed hundreds of studies involving online, telephone, qualitative, and mixed-mode methodologies.
Nowshad (Shad) Ali, CFRE, President and CEO of On Purpose Leadership
Shad’s background and experience includes senior development roles at Osteoporosis Canada, Canadian Diabetes Association, The Lung Association and Big Brothers and Big Sisters. Through his consulting work with Blackbaud Analytics Shad has also worked on Donor Modeling and other projects for organizations such as Canadian Red Cross, Meewasin, McGill, Dalhousie and Manitoba Universities among several others. Shad has a wide array of expertise including Organization Development, Board Development and Human Resource and Training . Shad holds the CFRE designation as well as he is a certified as a Values and Behaviour Analyst. (Shad)
